Frequently Asked Questions...
repair small water damage to artex ceiling?
I have had two or three occasions where the water from the bath
in the room above has splashed over and seeped through the coving and artex in the corner of the kitchen. The area is small but needs redoing. Can a small repair and repaint job be done or do Ihave to have the ceiling reartexed.
Answer:
No just do a basic repair but afterwards paint the area with white matt gloss. If there is any further small leaks this will stop the area becoming discoloured. But you will need to do a complete repaint of the ceiling in emulsion to ensure that the repaired area is the same shade as the rest of the ceiling.
Good luck

Minnesota Rains Remind Drivers of Needed Windshield Repairs
Driving during a Minnesota rainstorm is hard enough, but what if it's raining inside your car too? A leak in your windshield can cause your clothes and the interior of your car to get soaked, but it can also lead to further damage to your windshield. It is not only inconvenient, but it is also dangerous. The sooner you find the leak, the sooner you will be able to fix it, before it leads to more damage and a major repair to your automotive window glass.
Causes of leaky windshield. Automotive glass is attached to your car's windshield with a sealant. If that sealant dries up, cracks, falls out or is improperly installed, then your windshield will leak. There are many factors that can cause your windshield to leak. One is the weather, especially if your car is parked outside. The sun and heat can also cause the seal to break, as well as the temperature change from dusk to dawn. Or, an extremely loud noise while traveling at a high speed can break the seal. Even if your car has ever been involved an accident, the glass may have shifted away from the seal and that will cause it the windshield to leak. Another cause is that the surface where the automotive glass is mounted has rusted or rotted. The most obvious reason that your windshield is leaking is that there is a crack in the windshield or the sealant.
Whatever the reason for the leaky windshield, it is important that you to get it fixed as soon as possible, not only for your safety, but to keep the repairs to the automotive window glass to a minimum.
Locate the leak. Similar to a leak in your ceiling, the exact source of where the water is coming in may not be where the water is actually dripping into your car. An easy way to find the source of the leak is to tape off a section of your windshield with masking tape. Wet a rag or sponge and gently rub it over the tape and wait to see if any water drips into your car. Then, move on to the next section, repeating as necessary. Mark any sections that are leaking.
If you found any cracks in your seal, then you will need to repair the cracks with new caulk or sealant. Ask your local automotive window glass repair company about what products are the most effective for repairing leaks to your windshield seal. This can be done yourself provided that you did not find any rust, rotting out, or chips and cracks in your windshield.
Repair or replace cracked windshield? Windshield repair kits can help to repair small chips in your windshield. However, there is really no way to permanently repair a crack in your windshield. A small crack eventually becomes a large crack and a huge safety hazard. It is highly recommended to contact a professional automotive window glass technician who is professional trained and certified to replace the windshield. A mobile service is offered at some automotive window glass companies and a technician can usually come right to your home or place of business to do the job. Replacing a windshield takes less than an hour so there is no reason to prolong the repair. Although the job may take less than an hour, you may not be able to drive your car for a couple of hours to allow the sealant to dry permanently.
When it comes to driving, you definitely rely on your windshield to protect you from the elements and aid your visibility, especially while driving in the rain. Repairing a leaky windshield as soon as you notice the leak can prevent you from having to replace your entire windshield if you wait until the next storm.
