Whether you are an English student or not, most likely you will find yourself taking English Composition while getting your degree. English Comp is a required course for every student because it is a core class that will discuss and teach the basics of writing.
This class is taken by nearly all students when they go to college, normally in their first year. This course is a requirement because it will give students a basic understanding of all aspects of writing and reading. Every student needs to understand the basic elements of writing, reading and researching in order to truly succeed.
There will be a lot of writing required in this particular course. Students will write a good amount throughout the class and at the end of the course should be able to compile a well-researched and crafted essay. On top of learning about writing essays, students will also do extensive reading, while learning the basic elements of proper grammar and punctuation, as well as spelling.
In order to take this course, a student usually will not need to have any prerequisites. Since this is considered a beginners class, there is really not a course a student will need to take beforehand to be eligible for this course. However, they will need to have this class in their degree in order to move forward with many of their other courses. It would be smart if you were to read more about free online college degree.
For a beginners course, English Composition will have a heavy workload. A student is expected to do a lot of reading and crafting of many essays throughout the course. There will also be periodic tests to see how the student’s grammar has improved.
This course is essential for any student, no matter what degree they are majoring in.
