Everything You Need To Know About Renaissance Wedding Dresses
The Renaissance era may be 400 years gone, but there's no denying the fact that the influences of this era continue today. We're not just talking about humanism, art and music, we're also referring to trends in fashion. Most fashionistas will probably describe Renaissance fashion as severely outdated, but try saying that to the numerous brides donning Renaissance style wedding dresses.
Brides, this is your day. So if you're having problems in choosing the right dress from among the many beautiful renaissance wedding dresses, do not despair. Coming up with the renaissance theme is easy, but nobody said putting all the necessary work together is not hard. For the most part, the dilemma of a wedding is the dress. Every woman wants the most memorable and romantic wedding possible. There is one wedding gown that makes this possible to do with very little effort. The distinct look of a renaissance wedding dress sets it apart from other styles. These gowns are a reminder of Shakespeare's plays or the royal courts of centuries ago. These bridal dresses are usually found in white and cream colors.
Most women begin thinking of their wedding when they are young girls. They think of the stories they have heard and begin to imagine a very elaborate storybook event featuring them as the star attraction. No storybook matrimonial event would ever be complete without Renaissance style wedding dresses.
There is no mistaking the style of a Renaissance gown. It is a highly distinguishable style which is unmatched in its beauty. The gowns may differ some in design depending upon who created them, but they all have a few design elements in common that make them a Renaissance gown.
Although they can be found sleeveless, the true style has long sleeves which are tight along the arms and ends in a flare at the wrists. The dress is overall a slender style and it fits snugly about the waist. Usually the bodice is finely decorated with bead work and handmade silk flowers. The overall color of the ensemble is either ivory white or a royal cream, however there have been other colors used such as royal purple and hunter green.
The low hung front is done in a tasteful manner. The back of the gown can be either open back or be closed and topped with an upturned tiny collar. When the back of the gown is low it is always done tastefully. Some brides will also pick lace backed dresses or tied lattice work.
The over drape of the gown will be attached at the side seams and trail behind the bride in a lavish train which follows in her footsteps. A silver metallic mesh or beautiful silk organza can be used to create the over drape. Further adornments can include adding a shimmer sparkle and decorative find bead work which adds an old world style.
